Chapter 17

For the next few days, Jordan noticed that Paul blatantly stayed clear of him. For the most part, Jordan kept to himself, although some people were still picking and prodding at him. While most of the newer workers just wanted the gossip, some of the older workers were worried about having a repeat of the scandal five years ago.

Jordan was doing his best to keep the details about his growing relationship with Lucas to himself only. He made a point of asking Lucas about the Cody thing when they'd meet up after his shift.

That day was such a long day.

When Thursday was finally over and Jordan had clocked out, he waited around outside of the entrance for Lucas. After about ten minutes, the billionaire showed up. Although they tried to keep it low key, they couldn't exactly do much when people spotted them heading off to the parking lot together. They could easily feel eyes upon them as they climbed into the car as well.

Lucas sighed out. “Phew, what a day...”

“I know, right?” Jordan agreed, settling back into the comfortable chair. Since this was the first time he actually saw Lucas since the incident earlier the week, he couldn't help but to think about it. The way they had each other pinned to the door, ravishing each other's bodies...

“So, I was thinking of just having my chef cook something for us when we get to my place,” Lucas said, breaking Jordan's train of thought.

“You have your own chef?”

“Among other forms of help,” Lucas chuckled lightly. “Her name is Amanda and she's the best chef I've ever had. Since I work during the day, she pretty much only comes in on the evenings. When I have to work late, I just let her know to cancel.”

“That's so cool,” Jordan murmured, salivating a little at even the mere thought of having someone cook for you. “So, where do you live?”

“You'll see soon enough,” Lucas smiled, glancing to Jordan as they drove along. “But first, where does your ex-roommate live?”

“What?”

“You know who I'm talking about.”

Jordan stared at Lucas, his mind whirling. “Why...?”

“Because before we go to my place, we're going to go there and get things sorted out between you two,” Lucas explained, his voice stern. “That way, you can really start afresh without it hanging over you.”

Jordan felt his stomach do all sorts of horrible things, but he swallowed hard and sank more into the seat. “Fine... From here, take the next right...”

The neighborhood that Jordan once lived in was considered to be closer to the “bad side” of the city. While he never had much trouble with where he lived, there were always stories being shared between people in the neighborhood and out.

As Lucas pulled the car over to the curb, Jordan shot him a quick look. “You stay here. I can handle it.”

“Okay,” Lucas agreed, relaxing into his seat. “I'll keep the engine running.”

Jordan smirked slightly at the comment but then climbed out of the car. He shook out his limbs as his eyes fell upon the small two-story apartment.
